Ben wanted what so many of us take for granted: to pick his own movie, play a game, and say what was on his mind.
Ben lives with TUBB4A-related leukodystrophy. His brother Ari describes nearly a decade without meaningful access to the tools he needed. For years, turning his head left or right let him answer yes-or-no questions.
When Ben moved in with Ari and Nancy in 2022, they kept searching for a better way. In 2024, Ari began using AI to help build software around Ben’s needs — with Ben’s feedback guiding the work.
“Ben didn’t need more yes or no questions. He needed access.”— Ari, in the original Reddit post
One breakthrough was wonderfully ordinary: Ben chose Spider-Man 1 for himself. That moment helped spark a growing world of communication tools, games, and media access.
